A Personal Journey...

My name is José Miguel. I am a Spanish aerospace engineer and passionate photographer working and living in Germany, with my heart spread between these two beautiful countries. I started photography by casuality more than twenty five years ago with a Nikon film camera (I put a picture of it below) that I bought after getting introduce to it by a friend. And I was immediately fascinated by it. I am still using that camera from time to time, might be for romantic reasons, but as a reminder to how and why I started on photography. Just for passion. Since then I have studied and made photography along the years,  adapting to the new digital era, but believing that the most important for making good photos is not the camera or the gear, is the person.

Sharing two passions: Aviation and Photography

I spent my time between my job as aerospace engineer to make flying a safer experience and as photographer producing and sharing my passion for both.  Working in aviation has allowed me to live and visit different countries worldwide, giving me a unique opportunity to meet other persons and cultures, which with no doubt has brought benefits to me photography as well

Shooting Nikon from the start...

I started in photography just by chance almost 30 years ago. A friend of mine let me to use his camera during a summer in the 90´s, and I fell in love with it. I bought immediately my first film reflex camera: a Nikon 601M. Since then I was learning and practicing with no stop. I still enjoy using this camera, and takes a special place inside me may be for so many beautiful moments together. Yes: I still shoot film...! It pushes me to think about the final picture before releasing the shutter. Only 36 opportunities to fail or succeed.

I moved later to digital with Nikon too. There are many fantastic camera brands these days, but after so many years shooting Nikon I feel very familiar and comfortable with them. All Nikon cameras have a common ADN making them somehow similar and making the transition from one to another something very instinctive.

After this first Nikon I had the same model with autofocus (big help on those days!), and followed the 801, F100 and F5, just before moving to Digital. All fantastic cameras. But please remember: The most important thing to make good photos is not the camera or the gear: Its you. I always say that even If I had the Paco de Lucia´s guitar, I would never play as he did.
